2004 brings lesbian visibility to an all time high. The L Word features dubious storylines but a bevy of glamorous lesbian characters on television, simultaneously shattering stereotypes and our hope in the abilities of (some) Hollywood writers to write “our stories.” The battle over same sex marriage starts to get ugly; we learn that our opponents don’t mind Will and Grace but fear that same sex marriage will destroy Western civilization. Ellen+Portia also starts to happen.

Ellen introduces her talk show and begins to take over the world.
