The McCain Derangement Syndrome epidemic continuesBy Grace Chu |
In her most recent column, Ann Coulter continues hissing and spitting over the McCain nomination, and gives yet another backhanded endorsement of Hillary Clinton.
Going on a tangent… people wonder why conservative talk radio does better than liberal talk radio. Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, et al. draw a lot more listeners than Air America ever did (and ever will). This is because conservative talk radio is designed to work people into a frenzy until they froth at the mouth. It is designed to bring out the same animalistic yet exhilarating emotions as WWF wrestling and Roman gladiatorial matches. People want bread and circus, and conservative talk radio is circus. It is entertaining, and if you are part of the rabid choir, it feels damn good to listen to pastor Ann and the rest of the right wing clergy.
Liberal talk radio is delivered in a manner that is more muted and snarky. It appeals to a different set of emotions. But people aren’t drawn to that, because “muted and snarky” is boring – they want circus! They want to hear humiliating screeds against black people, Mexicans, Muslims, liberals, homo-sek-shuals, “abortionists,” “Feminazis,” science, Sponge Bob, and now (for some unknown reason) John McCain, just like they want to see humiliating upskirt photos of Britney Spears. Liberal talk radio simply just doesn’t get the heart beating and the fist pumping.
Conservative talk radio is arena rock, whereas liberal talk radio is indie pop.
So occasionally I venture over to “the other side” just to see what half-baked nonsense the conservative pundits are cooking up. Although I am aware that it is half-baked nonsense, it will at least be entertaining half-baked nonsense.
So I was reading Ann Coulter’s latest McCain-bashing column when I saw a quote from FreeRepublic that she had re-posted in her mini-blog on her sidebar. I took a screenshot, because it is priceless.
