Stuff Lesbians Like Part 84: Vacations

By Grace Chu

Yes, we’re still alive, but even bloggers need vacations. We’ll be back with new content on January 1. Until then, check out the full list of Stuff Lesbians Like. Been there, done that? Check out the most popular blog posts of 2008 on AfterEllen. Seen that too? Then start a debate in the comment section below. Any topic. But make sure you start fighting over something really petty, like grammar and spelling, so you retain internet street cred.

Until the shiny apple in Times Square washes this wretched year of 2008 away… peace out!

Why do bloggers need vacations? Don’t you all just sit around in your underpants all day and surf the internets? You people should get real jobs and then maybe we’ll grant you the right to vacation. Damnit! I want to read about lesbian pop-culture whilst I celebrate the birth of my personal Lord and Savior!

Why is the word “whilst” making a comeback among people born in the 1980s? Discuss.

  3. Lizzie Borden Says:

Yeah, I’ve also noticed a lot of people using “whilst.”

We should ask the word mavens at A Way With Words.

My friend started using it after moving to England. So I blame the Brits.

I’m just happy you pointed out how petty it is to attack people over spelling and grammar on blog comments – I mean seriously I jsut type what I want to say and you get the point – it’s not like my papers for school that i recheck 80 times before hanging in geez

    enjoy the vacay!

I’ve always been a fan of ‘antiquated’ terminology… whilst, mayhap, etc. I used ‘full of the dickens’ to describe a friends cat year ago and she still teases me about it… shrug. I like it.

I’m with Elizabeth, call me old-fashioned, but I also enjoy saying “golly,” “shucks,” “neat,” and “swell.” I’m gonna go meet up with Potsy and the gang now. I’ll catch you on the flipside.

  8. Elizabeth Says:

Swell!! I forgot that one :D
